The area of stubble burning has come down by 19 per cent this year in Amritsar compared to 2020, said Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Khaira on November 13.<br /><br />“1,908 cases (of stubble burning) have been reported from different sub-divisions of Amritsar. The administration has imposed a fine of Rs 10.32 lakh for environmental compensation and marked 62 red entries in e-Girdawari. We have given the required machinery to the cooperative department to distribute amongst farmers,” he added.
